Mendocino Forest Products' History
MFP was formed in July 1998 when a private San Francisco-based investment group acquired certain operating assets from the Louisiana-Pacific Corporation. At the same time, the new owners also created Mendocino Redwood Company, LLC (MRC) to purchase approximately 232,500 acres of timberlands in Mendocino and Sonoma Counties from Louisiana-Pacific. Richard Higgenbottom is the President and CEO of the Mendocino Companies.
When the company opened its doors the new ownership and management committed to the following:
- "We are investing in Mendocino Redwood Company and its associated businesses for the long term."

- "Our planning is designed to increase the aggregate inventory of timber on these lands."

- "Our business decisions and our actions on the ground in the coming months and years will prove that we are committed to the land, to the community, and to our employees."

- "We are new owners. We will be a different kind of forest products company, one for which the community, our neighbors and employees can be justifiably proud and supportive."
