Environmental Stewardship
MFP is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (www.fsc-info.org) as a Chain of Custody certificate holder.
Please visit the web site of our sister company, Mendocino Redwood Company, at www.mrc.com for more information about environmental stewardship on our affiliated lands.
Redwood is a popular building material due to its beauty and long-lasting performance, and it is also a renewable resource that is carefully managed so that California's forests will remain vibrant for future generations.
In "Using Redwood: An Environmentally Sound Decision" the California Redwood Association (www.calredwood.org) presents independent studies and reports by experts from, among others, the U.S. Forest Service, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the California Board of Equalization.
In "Redwood Forests Certified for Sustainable Harvests" the California Redwood Association discusses the redwood industry's environmental certification achievements, which have led to 80 percent of the available redwood commercial forests being certified under one of the two most widely recognized certification programs: Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFISM) program.
