Solid partnership.

Through our partnership with The Home Depot, MFP brings beautiful redwood and Douglas-fir lumber products to customers throughout the West Coast.

History

Mendocino Forest Products Company, LLC (MFP) was formed in July 1998 when a private San Francisco-based investment group acquired certain operating assets from the Louisiana-Pacific Corporation. At the same time, the new owners also created sister company Mendocino Redwood Company, LLC (MRC®) to purchase approximately 232,500 acres of timberlands in Mendocino and Sonoma counties in Northern California from the Louisiana-Pacific Corporation.
When the company opened its doors, the new ownership and management committed to the following:

  • “We are investing in Mendocino Redwood Company and its associated businesses for the long term.”
  • “Our planning is designed to increase the aggregate inventory of timber on these lands.”
  • “Our business decisions and our actions on the ground in the coming months and years will prove that we are committed to the land, to the community, and to our employees.”
  • “We are new owners. We will be a different kind of forest products company, one for which the community, our neighbors and employees can be justifiably proud and supportive.”

Today, Mendocino Redwood Company (MRC) owns approximately 228,800 acres of forestland in Mendocino and Sonoma counties. These forestlands are located about two hours north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Since 2000, the forestlands of MRC have been certified to the standards of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®). Please visit our FSC Certification page for more information.

As sister companies, Mendocino Forest Products (MFP) and Mendocino Redwood Company (MRC) work together to supply the marketplace with environmentally responsible forest and lumber products. MRC supplies MFP with raw materials, in the form of redwood and Douglas-fir logs. MFP in turn manufactures these logs into top-quality redwood and Douglas-fir lumber products. These lumber products are sold exclusively through The Home Depot stores across California and several other Western states.
